OUR SONOMA MODEL

Our Sonoma model is unique and like no other "room" on the market. It's design is flexible and could be easily turned into a "Tiny House", a portable office , or a pop up store.

The Evolution Process

The Sonoma concept started out as a Tiny House idea. The team spent months researching and came up with models that would serve the widest range of potential customers, while using only renewable energy (allowing it to stay off the electric grid) and water supply by using filtered rainwater. The team designed an open floor plan (no loft like many Tiny Houses) with side French doors, a front door with a porch and 4 windows in a row which together would give the owner the best feel possible. This plan was put on an 8’ x 20’ trailer with the bathroom serving as a mud room, the living room would transform into a bedroom and part of the kitchen counter would also swing around and transform into a table. The house was designed to be a complete house for 2 adults with an optional bed for 2 kids. It had a full refrigerator/freezer, medicine cabinet and storage for seasonal clothes and his and her closet with drawers. Then each section was built in a warehouse and fitted together before mounting it to the trailer. No nails only long screws were used to hold the studs together since the house was intended to be on the move. In order to cut down on the need for interior lighting, a full clear acrylic roof was installed with a curved ceiling. Closed celled insulation was used ensuring the walls didn’t let any air out, and it was cladded with fiber cement board to ensure that regardless of the weather it would stand the test of time with little maintenance.

With more thinking “inside the box” we realized that the same floor plan could be adapted for multiple uses by adding or subtracting pieces of the interior. For example, if we removed the kitchen it could serve as a guest house and a larger shower and bed could be installed. If the kitchen cabinets were removed under the 4 windows, and a long desk replaced it, then it could be mobile office with a bathroom. With these ideas, we began to expand our potential selling base and these “Rooms” on wheels could be built faster and efficiently. And with changing a few more things, the Sonoma could serve a bigger clientele and be created to serve more purposes.

We also began to vision meeting the needs of employees who could really use backyard office which wouldn’t need for its foundation to be on a trailer, but would still need to be built off location and dropped in place. So we also started drawing plans to meet this nitch of the market after Covid hit.

What you will find if you see the Sonoma firsthand is a unique flexible model that meets the desires of so many families, employees, and want to be entrepreneurs. You will find a model that could adapt with its owner(s) as their needs adapt over time. It could be a cabin in the woods for someone, a beach house during the summer for a teacher who just needs to unwind, or an air bnb to provide extra income.

Our "Rooms" are built here in Chicago and brought to your location already assembled. Most are built on a trailer and left on a trailer as its foundation. This allows the owner to move these structures  from place to place at a moment’s notice without special permits and could be ideal for single or multiple events.  It could be perfect for tours or summer fairground presentations or a seasonal retail shop.  These are completely customizable from its length to hydraulic decks to interior or exterior lighting and configuration. These are built to be set up in a matter or minutes regardless of the area by using self leveling jacks and a ultra-quiet generator.

Not all "Rooms" have to be built on permanent wheels. These rooms come with corner jacks that will lift off the trailer and set on bricks as after the trailer is pulled out from under it. These also can be ran off of a generator or wired for solar panels, limiting the need to pull electrical permits or increase your energy bill. There is almost no construction mess or noise at your home since these are built here in Chicago.
